How Strong Is Your Garage Door?

Most people do not stop to think about their garage door very much. They know that it helps to keep their vehicles and other belongings safe, but they do not really know just how strong the garage door is and what it must put up with on a daily basis. The door needs to be strong enough to stand up to the UV rays that it contends with every day, and still manage to look good. Did you know that each day, the door will receive an equivalent amount of energy that it would take to cook a turkey?

When you have quality insulation on the garage door – a thermal insulation value of R‑16 – you can be sure that it does a good job of keeping the interior nice and warm. During the summer, the insulation will help to keep out the warm air. If you have an attached garage, this means you will not have to worry about the cold or hot air from the garage getting into the house. You could reduce your energy bill. It will also make the garage a more pleasant place to be if you use it for purposes other than storing your vehicle, such as for an office, a workout room, or a game room.

Do you need a new garage door?

Now, you must ask yourself a question. Is your garage door currently handling these tasks as well as you would like? Doors that have polyurethane insulation are a great option, as they offer quality performance that can reduce exterior noise, keep you insulated from the heat and the cold, and provide a good bending resistance.
